Milos Raonic: I can't take Steve Johnson for granted

No. 2 seed Milos Raonic insists he won't be taking world No. 76 Steve Johnson for granted when they meet this Friday in the Delray Beach Open quarterfinal.

Raonic, ranked at No. 37 in the world, survived a tricky round-of-16 meeting against world No. 137 Cedric-Marcel Stebe as he beat the German 7-5 6-3.

After failing to convert any of his two consecutive break points in the 11th game of the first set, Stebe's game fell apart and Raonic took the full advantage.

But the Canadian insists he is well aware that he will have to perform better if he wants to have a shot at winning it all this week.

Raonic, 29, leads the head-to-head against Johnson but the 30-year-old American beat him when they last met on the hard courts of Delray Beach in 2018.

"That’s going to be tough. He beat me the last time we played here,” Raonic said of Johnson, per the tournament's website. “I’m going to have continue to play better. Conditions at night are considerably different than during the day so I’m going to have to be a bit more patient and find the right balance.”
