Rafael Nadal Academy in Kuwait hosts tournament

Indian girl Sai Harshita Adivi (Khushi) has won Girls U-16 category in the Tennis Competition conducted by Rafa Nadal Academy in Kuwait. The Rafael Nadal Academy was launched at the Sheikh Jaber Al- Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex in Al-Zahraa in presence of Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer along with many high-profile dignitaries.

Harshita was handed the trophy by Rafael Nadal himself in a ceremony held at the newly launched facility near 360 mall. Nadal handed the trophy in presence of Kuwait Royal Member His Highness of Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Rafa Nadal Academy Kuwait. Originally coming from Andhra Pradesh in India, Harshita studies in Class 9 at FAIPS (DPS) Ahmadi.

Earlier the Rafal Nadal Academy was launched in the presence of National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Minister of Information and Minister of State of Youth Affairs. Mohammad Al-Jabri, President of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of Public Authority for Sport Humoud Flaiteh and his deputy Saqar Al-Mulla, Hawalli Governor Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Sabah and a number of Sheikhs, officials and dignitaries.

The event also saw an exhibition match between former Davis Cup team mates Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer.

The complex includes 18 tennis courts, the inside main court accommodates 5000 spectators, while the outside one's capacity is 1500. The complex also contains a hotel with 300 rooms, and special utilities for tennis as well as Kuwait Tennis Federation's Head quarters. The courts are well equipped in line with world-class standards.
