Roberto Bautista Agut hopes either he or Pablo Carreno Busta win Rotterdam
Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut hopes either he or his fellow compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta will leave Rotterdam with the title captured.
Bautista Agut, seeded at No. 6, survived a tough opener at the tournament as he came from a set down to beat qualifier Marton Fucsovics 4-6 7-6 (1) 6-1.
Meanwhile, world No. 30 Carreno Busta survived a thriller as he edged out Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 7-5 6-7 (3) 6-4 in two hours and 45 minutes of play.
The two Spaniards will now take on each other and the winner will progress into the Rotterdam quarterfinal.
"Next round is going to be a Spanish round against Pablo Carreno Busta. Hopefully one of us can take the title," Bautista Agut said, per the tournament's Twitter account.
After a hard-fought win over Mannarino, Carreno Busta admitted it was extremely hard and he felt the nerves toward the end of the match.
"It was really tough. At the end of the match I was under a lot of pressure to finish it, but finally I did it with a good backhand winner," Carreno Busta said, per the tournament's Twitter account.
