Roger Federer: "In the past, I was so awkward around kids"
Bad news for all tennis lovers. After unfounded and denied news from his staff, Roger Federer will miss the next tournaments on the calendar, the whole season on clay and consequently the second Slam of the year, the Roland Garros.
The Swiss will automatically lose many points: 500 from Dubai, 600 from Indian Wells, 1000 from Miami, 180 from Madrid and Rome, 720 from Paris. Without these 3180 points, he would be virtually seventh in the ranking. Return in the summer, therefore, to aim to defend the points accumulated in the final of Wimbledon 2019, in a season that also plans the Tokyo Olympics, which has always been the great goal of the former number 1. The champion has never worn the medal golden singles, while in doubles he won the 2008 Beijing tournament with his compatriot Stan Wawrinka.
During the 'Match in Africa' in Cape Town, Federer and Nadal interacted with young kids. “I think so. When other professional comrades organize photos with children, those who don’t have them often seem a bit borrowed. Having said that, I have to admit that yesterday Rafa was very cute with the kids. He got used to it with his own foundation.
And for me, it’s really easy. Instead of my four children, there are a hundred at a time, no problem. My two boys were 6 years old in May, so they are exactly the age of the kids we played with, Rafa and me. I know perfectly well how they react when they break their faces or don’t immediately understand an exercise. In the past, I would have been awkwardly more clumsy" - Roger explained.
