Serena Williams shares struggles of a working mom
Serena Williams, the 38-year-old unflagging American former top seed who came across the highest number of Grand Slam Holy Grails by any male of female in the Open Era, ranked as 63rd in Forbes’ world’s highest-paid Athletes list last year and WTA’s world’s No. 1 prize money holder with a stark sum of $92.71 million to date, was not either shy or afraid to share that her life was not all about stardom, fame or glory. There might just have been much more to it such as being a good mother which one would even dare to doddle up that there could be a more challenging task for a lady, even if it is Serena Williams.
Serena, the American sensation and an iconic model to female athletes across the globe, long-adored for her unswerving serves and galloping groundstrokes, who has just been two Grand Slams titles shy of Margaret Court’s all-time high of 25, shared her experience as a mother in an emotional Instagram post later last week saying, “…working and being a mom is not easy. I am often exhausted, stressed, and then I go play a professional tennis match. We keep going. I am so proud and inspired by the women who do it day in and day out. I’m proud to be this baby’s mama”
