American Alison Riske Not Happy with Being Tested During Global Pandemic
Tennis - While tennis tournaments have still been suspended on the ATP & WTA Tour, the testing of athletes is still going on. But at least one former player is not happy about the drug testing during the state of Emergency in the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
American tennis player Alison Riske was tested on March 14th as per the usual protocols of tennis players being tested out of competition. However, that did not go down too well with her husband and former player Stephen Amritraj, who tweeted, 'Global pandemic, state of Emergency in the US and FL, tours suspended, self isolation- how is in home testing one athlete after another safe @usantidoping & @wada_ama? Suspend & pay the people who do the tests. Resume when the next event is confirmed."
His view was also endorsed by another American player Nicole Gibbs, who to Amritraj's tweet saying 'Yep exactly. This is a flaming health violation in a time where we’re being encouraged to practice social distancing. From a “health-focused” organization.'
Riske was among the most tested tennis players of 2019 with 28 tests (14 in-competition and 14 out-of-competition).
