Ken Skupski: there could be no more tennis for 2020

British doubles star Ken Skupski, 36, thinks there is a solid chance that the whole season will eventually get called off. 

On March 12, the ATP suspended the Tour for six weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak. 

Last week, the ATP extended the Tour suspension through to June 7. 

The season is now scheduled to resume on June 8, when the grass season starts. 

On Wednesday, the AELTC revealed they will hold the emergency board meeting next week to decide the fate of The Championships.

This year's Wimbledon is scheduled to take place from June 29 - July 12. 

Five-time ATP doubles champion Skupski doubts the grass season will be played. 

"My own view is that this is going to take at least six months, and we may even not be back for the rest of the year," Skupski told The Daily Mail. "I am certainly not expecting the grass court season to happen and I would think even the US Open (in late August) might be optimistic.

'We have to be realistic about it and realise the importance of what is going on. It's not going to be easy for anyone. At least for me I have the distraction of the kids. Tennis players have to be pretty selfish in their outlook and it wouldn't surprise me if some of the younger ones struggle with it, because it is so difficult to how we usually live."

Skupski, ranked at No. 51 in the world, made the Australian Open quarterfinal with his new partner Santiago Gonzalez this past January.

In their last tournament played before the suspension, Skupski and Gonzalez were beaten in the Acapulco quarterfinal.
