Sloane Stephens seeks advice on coronavirus protection

2017 US Open winner Sloane Stephens had a dilemma regarding whether she should wear a mask to protect herself from the emerging coronavirus or not. She turned over to her Twitter fans in order to find an answer.

“So do masks actually help avoid getting coronavirus? The internet is confusing me.” Stephens tweeted.

Stephens got “mixed answers” from her followers and chances are she is even more confused right now. However, let’s take a look at some of the responses.

Rennae Stubbs — retired tennis player, the winner of four doubles Grand Slam titles and two mixed doubles Grand Slam titles, and the current coach of Samantha Stosur — stepped forward with a simple advice: “No! Wash your hands lady!”

Another twitter user (Bonita Smith) has shared CDC’s (Centers for Disease Control) opinion on the use of masks: "CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19."

Some funny answers include: “At times like this I'm glad I never go out and have a social life. This is when being a loner comes in handy.” (Derrick Lee); “Only way to prevent it is to not drink Corona.” (Ricky Dimon).

Many users mentioned Dr. Jennifer Ashton’s appearance on ABC, saying that facemasks “are not to protect the healthy from something coming in”.
