Week 9: men in Davis Cup! Kim Clijsters comes back in Monterrey

The first week of March 2020 will see two WTA tournaments, while in the weekend men will play the qualifying round of the Davis Cup 2020, 109th edition of the tournament.

Davis Cup matches will begin on March 6th: Croatia vs. India, Hungary vs. Belgium, Colombia vs. Argentina, USA vs. Uzbekistan, Australia vs. Brazil, Italy vs. South Korea, Germany vs. Belarus, Kazakhstan vs. Netherlands, Slovakia vs. Czech Republic, Austria vs. Uruguay, Japan vs. Ecuador and Sweden vs. Chile. Match winners will play the Davis Cup Finals at the Caja Mágica, in Madrid (Spain) from 23 to 29 November 2020. Canada, France, UK, Russia, Serbia and Spain already qualified.

Women will play at the Lyon Open (France, WTA International played on indoor hard-courts) and at the Monterrey Open (Mexico, WTA International played on hard-courts). In Lyon there will be Sofia Kenin (seed no. 1), Kristina Mladenovic, Caroline Varcia, Alison Van Uytvanck, Alize Cornet and Timea Babos. In Monterrery Elina Svitolina will lead the draw. With her also Johanna Konta, Yulia Putintseva and Victoria Azarenka. Wild-cards for Kim Clijsters, Venus Williams and Sloane Stephens.

This week there will also be two ATP Challengers: the Oracle Challenger Series - Indian Wells (USA, played on hard-courts) and the Monterrey Challenger (Mexico, played on hard-courts).
