Daniil Medvedev on how to cope with public attention once you become top player

Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev, 24, says you have to embrace everything what comes with being a top player.

The Russian enjoyed an outstanding campaign in 2019, having reached a total of nine finals.

The 24-year-old claimed four in those nine finals appearance, while he ended runner-up on five occasions.

Medvedev, ranked at No. 4 in the world, claimed Masters titles in Cincinnati and Shanghai while he ended runner-up in his maiden Grand Slam final at the US Open.

The Russian also made his maiden appearance at the Nitto ATP Finals and achieved a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world last year.

"You can't dream of being Top 10 and at the same time wish you'd be playing on the court where nobody watches you," Medvedev said on Instagram Live.

Medvedev, who is an avid gamer, surprisingly isn't featuring the Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro.

"I don't know. Either my agent, for whatever reason, decided I didn't need it or I just wasn't invited," Medvedev said, when asked why he wasn't in the Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro lineup.
