Horacio Zeballos: 'I hope Roger Federer would still play at 45!'

Horacio Zeballos had a chance to play against Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic but never against Roger Federer, with small opportunities to change that in the future as he has been playing only in doubles for the last two seasons. A former top-40 player in singles has found a perfect rhythm on the doubles court, winning the Masters 1000 titles and playing in the final at the US Open. Like all the other players since the beginning of March and a coronavirus outbreak, Horacio is spending time at home, waiting for some positive news about the restart of the season and joining a podcast where he mentioned Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The Argentine would love to see Roger in action for five or six years more, calling him a unique player and the one to watch. Federer will turn 39 in August and he is still among the best players in the world, standing in the top-4 and well-capable of chasing the big titles against much younger rivals.

The Swiss start finished the previous season only behind Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, winning four ATP titles and extending his record as the oldest Masters 1000 champion after conquering Miami as the first champion at Hard Rock Stadium. Roger also won the 100th ATP title in Dubai and added more trophies to his tally in Halle and Basel, missing a colossal chance for the 21st major trophy after squandering two match points in the final at Wimbledon against Novak Djokovic. Federer has played one tournament so far in 2020, advancing into the semi-final in Melbourne before undergoing knee surgery in February, working hard on the return (at least at home) and expecting to get ready once the season resumes.

"I would love to see Roger Federer on the Tour until he is 45. He is a unique player," said Zeballos.
