Dusan Lajovic: I think every player would sign up for a September return

World No. 23 Dusan Lajovic still holds hope the season will resume at some point of the year but admits there will be some changes once tennis returns.

The season has been suspended since March 12 due to the coronavirus outbreak and the suspension will last until at least early-August.

"We hope there will be some tennis before the year ends. They are mentioning September and the possibility of hosting the US Open is still being discussed," Lajovic told Sport Klub.

"It will be really tough to predict how will it all look like when the Tour returns -- how will the traveling look, the tournaments because everything what is usually normal now in some ways directly clashes with the coronavirus situation.

"The locker rooms we use, those are the locker room in which all the players are and their coaches... We are showering at the same place. Maybe everything will have to change or simply everything will be done as it has been done before. It will be tough to see how will it all functionate.

The US Open is scheduled to take place from August 31 - September 13.

The US Open organizers are still planning to stage the event as initially scheduled but a postponement or a cancellation could happen.

Lajovic, the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters runner-up, says every player would be more than happy to see tennis return in September.

"If we could sign up for a September return, I think every player would do so," Lajovic said.
