Former coach explains why Djokovic is better than Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal
Thanks to his 56 successes, Novak Djokovic leads the so-called "Big Titles" winners, which include Grand Slam tournaments, Masters 1000, ATP Finals and the Olympics. With a prize money of over $ 144 million, he is the athlete who has made the biggest gains in the history of tennis.
The Serbian and Rafael Nadal have met 55 times on the tennis court, an Open Era record for head-to-head meetings between male players, and Djokovic leads 29–26. Djokovic leads on hard courts 20–7, while Nadal leads on clay 17–7, and they are tied on grass 2–2. Djokovic and Roger Federer have faced each other 50 times (not including one occasion when there was a walkover in favour of Djokovic), and Djokovic currently leads 27–23. Djokovic leads on hard courts 20–18 as well as grass 3–1, whereas they are split 4–4 on clay.
Former US Open Todd Martin said that Novak Djokovic was a clear front runner amongst the Big 3. Even though he feels highly of Roger Federer, there is no one more unbearable than Novak Djokovic. “For me though, if Novak is right, if Novak is confident and comfortable with his physical status and is really focused, I’ve never seen anybody more unbeatable.
This guy has played the game better than anyone else ever has, in my opinion. His athleticism is from another world. His return of serve is way better than any other return of serve ever and I mean way better. Nobody has gotten so many balls back and neutralised so many good serves" - the American told Tennis365.
