Quentin Halys: My Matches Against Nadal e Djokovic Give me a Boost When I Am Down

23 year old French tennis player Quentin Halys says that he has mixed views about the relief plan for the lower ranked players but will accept the decisions made by the tour's governing bodies.

Speaking to Tennis Actu, the World No. 194 says, "It's hard to have a real objective opinion. At the same time, the players deserve to be helped, but for some it will do more than they usually would have won. It is not a fair solution, but I know that the ITF and ATP do the best for the players and we will have to accept and respect their decision."

Halys says he is managing the lockdown well and is okay financially at the moment since he qualified for the Australian Open in January, which provided him a decent paycheck. "Everything is going very well for me, I take advantage of spending time at home which has been very rare in recent years. It was hard to find the motivation to do things at first. But now I have picked up the pace, I play sports and I read, and I take the opportunity to take care of my apartment! I am not the most to complain about, I had the chance to qualify in Australia with a big prize money. It's hard for everyone so I can't complain."

Halys says he cannot wait to get back to the courts and play tennis. His biggest matches so far have come against Rafael Nadal at French Open in 2015 and Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open in 2016. "These two games were great for me, with a lot of people and incredible opponents, so yes when I find things tough, I think about these games and it immediately gives a huge boost. I hope to play as many players as possible, I have also played Del Potro, Nishikori and Fognini. These are games where the weak points come out a lot, but I want to go face them and beat them as quickly as possible. I am 194th, but I was 102nd two years ago. My level was bad last year, but despite everything, I managed to keep a ranking which allowed me to play the Grand Slam qualifiers. Now it's behind me, I've learned the lessons and I'm going to move on."
