Roger Federer's best memory - 2015 edition: 1000 career match wins
Roger Federer's career is studded with great successes and incredible records: with 20 Slams he is the record holder but the Swiss Maestro has achieved other great goals, such as eight triumphs at Wimbledon, the weeks as world no. 1, and the titles on the grass and hard courts. For each season, however, there is a particular goal, an achievement that should be highlighted.
In 2015, Federer played 11 finals, winning six titles: Brisbane (against Milos Raonic), Dubai (against Novak Djokovic), Istanbul (against Pablo Cuevas), Halle (against Andreas Seppi), Cincinnati (still against Djokovic) and Basel (against Rafael Nadal). He lost five finals, all against Novak Djokovic: Indian Wells, Rome, Wimbledon, US Open and ATP Finals.
From that year the Serb will become a real chimaera for Federer, defeating him in five very important and very tough finals only in 2015, despite Federer's good psycho-physical shape and the improvements seen in the two years together with Stefan Edberg. And despite that was a very positive season for the Swiss, during which he played two Slam finals.
With the victory in Brisbane, however, the Swiss Maestro achieved one of the most prestigious results of his career, winning not only the title but obtaining the symbolic goal of the 1000 ATP wins in his career. A legendary achievement, despite the fact that he was closer to celebrating his 34th birthday.
"Fans? I do it for them too, for my fans. What keeps me going is to hit the ball, the feeling of winning a match point and receiving encouragement from the crowd. It is a unique feeling. It touches me very deeply," said Federer in an interview that year.
