Rafael Nadal on the Big 3: The most important thing is our love for tennis
World No. 2 Rafael Nadal says that the secret to the success of the Big Three - Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and himself - is their love and dedication for the sport. The Spaniard was speakinng on a show with José Luis Clerc from ESPN and said that the three of them have worked very hard to reach where their current position.
Rafael Nadal says that secret to success is the love for tennis“We can talk about many technical things, but the most important thing is the love for tennis that the three of us feel. We meet an indispensable condition to get to where we have come, such as the ability to continuously adapt, overcome difficulties and improve. Sportsmen always share the enormous passion they feel for it and that makes them continually excel themselves. With that and the right people in our environment, we have found the way to always improve."
Speaking about the NextGen, Nadal says that there is a nice battle going on between the younger players and the older veterans on tour right now, which he hopes will last as long as possible once the circuit resumes. “The reality is that they (the NextGen)are already there. There are many young players fighting for the maximum and winning important titles. They have not been able to do it in a Grand Slam, also because we have not left, so now there is a very nice fight between young people and the older guys that I hope will last as long as possible in time."
Rafael Nadal is a 19 time Grand Slam singles champion. His indication that he hopes the battle between the younger generation and the older players will last a long time is in indication that he has no plans to retire just yet.
