Roger Federer's best memory - 2019 edition: 100 career wonders

Roger Federer's career is studded with great successes and incredible records: with 20 Slams he is the record holder but the Swiss Maestro has achieved other great goals, such as eight triumphs at Wimbledon, the weeks as world no. 1, and the titles on the grass and hard courts. For each season, however, there is a particular goal, an achievement that should be highlighted.

In 2019 Federer won his 100th career title, at the Dubai Tennis Championships, and he played an incredible Wimbledon final, lost against Novak Djokovic, after five dramatic sets, after having had two match-points on his service. That year Federer won a total of 4 titles in 6 finals played: he won Dubai, Miami, Halle and Basel, losing at Indian Wells and at Wimbledon.

In Dubai, the Swiss Maestro had the chance to get an incredible and prestigious new goal: the 100th career title. Between February and March 2019 Federer was 37 years old and he was still (as he is still today) looking for new amazing goals and achievements.

He started Dubai as the second seed, winning the first two rounds in three sets, struggling against Philipp Kohlschreiber and Fernando Verdasco. In the quarterfinals he defeated Marton Fucsovics in straight sets, suffering in the first set won at the tiebreaker. After winning in two sets against Borna Coric in the semifinal, Federer defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas with a double 6-4 in the final, avenging the defeat in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2019 and winning his 100th career title.

"In 2019 I defeated Novak Djokovic at the ATP Finals in big matches and Rafa Nadal in Wimbledon. I played good tennis and the only thing I missed was a Slam tournament. In 2020 I want to change these things and I will have to now get back to my planning work with my team," said Roger Federer at the end of 2019.
