Viktor Troicki contemplating retirement
Three-time ATP champion Viktor Troicki, 34, has revealed that he is seriously thinking about what his next move should be as calling it a career is one of his options.
Troicki, who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 12 in the word in 2011, has been struggling with his game for the past few years and his best days are behind him.
But earlier this year, Troicki proved that he hasn't forgotten how to play tennis as he and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic delivered in the deciding rubber of the ATP Cup final tie against Spain to give Serbia the title.
The Tour has been suspended since March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic and some fear we may not see any tennis for the rest of 2020.
"I'm not young anymore, I'm 34, and I'm starting to think about my future. It all depends on how much will this last, but tennis isn't the most important thing right now, Troicki told Kurir, as revealed on Republika.
"If the pandemic finishes sooner than expected, I will try to return to the court. I'm well aware that I'm not young anymore and that I would have to put up a lot of work and sweat in order to return to my form. But let's first see how will the situation look after the coronavirus pandemic (calms down). Honestly, I can't wait for the life to return to normal."
The 34-year-old Serb is now ranked at No. 183 in the world.
