Andy Murray reacts to players testing positive at Adria Tour

Former world No. 1 Andy Murray says what happened at the Adria Tour should be a lesson for everyone on the Tour.

Grigor Dimitrov, who participated in both Adria Tour events, announced on Sunday evening that he had tested positive for the coronavirus after not feeling well for a few days. 

On Saturday afternoon, Dimitrov opened his Adria Tour campaign in Zadar with a straight-set loss as he was badly beaten by Croatian tennis star Borna Coric. 

A week earlier, world No. 19 Dimitrov also played at the Adria Tour event in Belgrade.

Both events featured packed crowds, players shook hands, hugged and the organizers have received a lot of criticism for their handling of the event. 

But the Adria Tour organizers have said multiple times that they have strictly followed the measures issued by the governments in Serbia and Croatia.

World No. 33 Coric also tested positive for the coronavirus.

Andy Murray hopes it all ends up well 

"All countries, obviously, have different rules in place. But I think, though, once you start to bring in international travel into it, and players are coming in and team members from all different parts of the world, you need to make sure you're taking all the correct measures, all the precautions that you can, to try avoid a situation like they got into over there," Murray said, per Sportsmail.

"Hopefully, it's nothing too bad, there's not a big outbreak there, because my understanding is that in Serbia and Croatia they were handling it fairly well. But, once you start having mass gatherings with people coming in from all sorts of countries, it's a recipe for it to kick off. 

'It's kind of a lesson for all of us to take – if we weren't already – to take this extremely seriously, to have as many safety measures in place as possible."

Three-time Grand Slam champion Murray hasn't played since the inaugural Davis Cup Finals -- which took place last November. 

"My hip's been feeling better, probably the last three or four weeks. It feels better than in March. I feel a little bit more confident in it, because I've had more training under my belt, more practice," Murray said. 

Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray is set to return to action at the Battle of the Brits -- a Tour which will feature British tennis players.
