The 17 year old Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz has built his perfect player and says he would like to take shots from the games of the Big Three in men's tennis - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic - and the American John Isner.
Carlos Alcaraz on his perfect player whch includes Federer, Djokovic, Nadal and IsnerThe 17 year old, who has drawn comparisons to his countryman Nadal, spoke to the Spanish website AS recently in which he discussed what his favourite player would look like.
"For me, the ideal tennis player should have the backhand and the return game of Novak Djokovic. Then, the mentality of Rafael Nadal, the forehand of Roger Federer and the service of John Isner."
Alcaraz says he is like any other teenager when he is not playing tennis and likes spending time with his friends and on the golf course. "I am a nice and funny person, I can say little more. Describing yourself is difficult. When I am not training I try to play golf. Juan Carlos introduced me to that world. I love that and spending time with my friends."
Describing his own game, Alcaraz says he likes his forehand shot and has improved his coverage and mobility on the court on all surfaces in recent months. He is currently signed by IMG and trains at the Equelite academy with Juan Carlos Ferrero, and says he is grateful for their support. "I have been with IMG since I was 11 years old and it is a great company that manages great players. It helps me a lot with the brands, the invitations to the tournaments. I'm very happy. At the Academy, the atmosphere is spectacular, with great coaches who achieve a lot of quality at work. I am super grateful and happy. This is a great family in which we have a very good relationship."
Carlos Alcaraz is currently ranked No. 318 in the world and made his ATP main draw debut earlier this year at the 2020 Rio Open. He defeated World No. 41 and fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos Viñolas in a third set tie-breaker in three hours and 36 minutes, to become the youngest player to win on the men's ATP tour since 2013 - and the youngest Spaniard to do so since Nadal. He has won 14 of his 15 matches on the ITF circuit earlier this year and is considered to be one of the rising stars in the game.
