'My dream is to go to Wimbledon and get a pair signed by Federer', says huge fan
Roger Federer holds a very special place in the hearts of millions of fans around the world. The Swiss phenomenon is undoubtedly one of the most loved sportsmen of every era and is very successful in every corner of the world. Some of the supporters of the 20-time Grand Slam champion come up with unique ways to pay homage to their idol, as in the case of Brazilian businessman Edson Balbinot. The latter is not only a fan of the former world number 1, but has a boundless love for his football shoes. Federer's outfits are often difficult to accumulate, also due to their price on the market. However, Balbinot devoted all his time and resources to this, managing to acquire 29 pairs of the 'Nike Zoom Vapor RF287' used by King Roger. In a recent interview with tennisbrasil, Edson shared his passion with the world.
Balbinot on Roger Federer"All pairs are unique and personalized, each corresponding to one of Roger Federer's 287 weeks (so far) at the top of the ranking. Mine is the 63rd week, in the ranking released on July 16, 2012,” Edson Balbinot said. “The collection will never be for sale. There was already an interested party who offered me R $ 138,000 last year,” he added. Balbinot highlighted his ‘big dream’ of watching Federer in action at Wimbledon and then getting a pair signed by the eight-time Wimbledon champion. "I have already watched Federer games, but my big dream is to be able to accompany him once at Wimbledon and maybe even get signed shoes," Balbinot concluded. Federer only played in the Australian Open this year, then opted for a double operation on his right knee that will keep him out until early 2021. The eight-time Grand Slam champion has decided not to force his return, hoping to repeat the exploit of 2017, when he won two Grand Slam titles upon his return after a six-month break. It is not clear if the next will be Roger's last season, but the impression is that the final judgment will be commensurate with the degree of competitiveness of the Swiss in those twelve months. With Nadal and Federer missing from New York, world number one Novak Djokovic will have a golden opportunity to land an 18th Grand Slam singles title. Djokovic was named on the US Open entry list on Tuesday which included seven of the world’s top 10 players. Djokovic, a three-time US Open champion, will be joined by world number three Dominic Thiem, world number 5 Daniil Medvedev and sixth-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas.
