Serena Williams' husband on double standards for female athletes showing emotions
Alexis Ohanian, the husband of tennis champion Serena Williams, is known for his straight talk on issues. The 37 year old tech entrepreneur accompanied his wife this week during the WTA event in Lexington. Ohanian recently provided his views on the double standards when it comes to women showing emotions on the court as well as how stressful it was to watch a match between the Williams sisters. Serena and Venus played in the second round of the WTA event in Lexington where Serena defeated Venus in three sets.

This prompted a response from one Twitter to comment, "To this another user replied, saying, “But remember when Serena Williams threw her tennis racket in frustration after losing a match it was called a “meltdown”?”
Ohanian also jumped in to the conversation, saying, "Love this passion. Love when ALL athletes get mad, get sad, get emotional because that's what we all watch for -- humans pushing themselves to be the very best, which is raw and real entertainment. Undeniably a double standard when it comes to women, though."
Serena has often been criticised for showing her emotions on the court and has been involved in several controversial matches ni recent times. Her show of emotions and at times breaking rackets has not gone down well with some fans, leading many to talk about the double standards when it comes to men and women on the sporting field.

38 year old American Serena Williams is a 23 time Grand Slam champion in tennis and she is aiming to win equal Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slam titles. She reached the quarter-finals of the WTA event in Lexington in her first event since the tennis lockdown where she was beaten by American Shelby Rogers.
Serena Williams now plans to play in the Western & Southern Open in New York, followed by the US Open. She is currently ranked no. 9 in the world. Several top players will not be competing in the US Open due to concerns about the coronavirus, including Word No. 1 Ash barty and defending champion Bianca Andreescu.
