World No. 1 Novak Djokovic travels to New York with Goran Ivanisevic

Tennis - World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, of Serbia, will be accompanied by Goran Ivanisevic, part of his coaching team, Ulises Badio, his personal physiotherapist  and Italian Edoardo Artaldi, his manager, on his trip to New York for the Western & Southern Open and the US Open in New York. Djokovic's long-time coach Marjan Vajda did not board the flight along with the Djokovic team for New York, as per a post by Ivanisevic on social media.

As per the USTA regulations for players travelling to New York, a player may have a maximum entourage of three people at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Ivanisevic, a former Wimbledon champon, posted an update on social media, saying, "It’s time for the strangest @cincytennis and @usopen ever. Hoping this is a one-time thing and let the games begin 😷🇺🇸🗽🎾"

A few days ago, Djokovic confirmed that he would travel to New York to compete in the Western & Southern Open and the US Open in New York. The Western & Southern Open starts on August 22nd while the US Open begins on 31st August. Djokovic will be aiming to win his 18th Grand Slam singles title in New York and close the gap on Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the race for most number of Grand Slam singles titles. Federer currently has 20 Grand Slam singles titles and will not be in New York due to his knee injury. Defending champion Rafael Nadal, of Spain, has decided not to travel to New York due to concerns about travelling amidst the current health situation.
