Simona Halep: 'I'm not happy with the playing conditions'
Good first round match at the Roland Garros 2020 for the Romanian tennis player Simona Halep (who yesterday also celebrated her birthday), winner of the last tournament in Rome and certainly among the favorites in the Parisian tournament.
The former world number one has analyzed her game and acknowledged that the conditions in Paris, given the great cold, are not the best but appear very difficult. Here are some passages from Simona Halep's press conference after the match won against the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo.
Simona Halep's press conferenceSimona won on her birthday, here are the statements after the success against Sorribes Tormo. Here are his words: "The perfect gift is that I obviously won. It was a special day to win on my birthday at Roland Garros. I can't celebrate much because I have to stay in my room and at most I will cheer with my bottle of water.
I will talk to my loved ones and enjoy the time available. Nothing special, now there is the tournament then maybe I'll celebrate On the conditions: I liked playing my first match on the central, it was nice because despite the rain we didn't stop.
It was quite cold because it is cold outside despite everything. I'm not happy with the weather and I know it's a bit difficult, but it's like that for everyone so I have to stay calm and just think about tactics.
Perfect match? I think about the Wimbledon final. I think it was perfect even though I sit down and always try to analyze what I did wrong and what went less well. In the last year I have improved a lot and am more mature.
I'm trying my best. It's all different for the public issue but otherwise it's fine and I like it. I can be together with the other players in the bubble and the situation is less difficult for all of us, in any case I'm happy to be here and I feel very good on the court."
With the absence of the defending champion Ashleigh Barty, Halep is the main favorite for the title in this Roland Garros, a tournament she won in 2018 by beating Sloane Stephens in the final, getting her first Slam title. Simona had a good draw, despite some insidious players she can meet during her path, but she remain the true favorite for the final victory.
