Jannik Sinner Confident As He Inches Closer To The Sofia Open 2020 Title

Italian youngster Jannik Sinner shot to the headlines soon after he reached the finals of the Sofia Open 2020. The 19-year-old Italian defeated Adrian Mannarino in straight sets to inch closer to the year ending ATP event in Bulgaria.

Jannik beamed with confidence upon reaching the first finals of his career. Sinner made a name for himself when he defeated Alexander Zverev in the French Open 2020 to set up a quarterfinal clash with Rafael Nadal. Now he’s on to his first career final and will be hopeful of taking the trophy home.

“Oh you know, it’s nice to be in the final playing one more match which for me is most important and today I felt well on court and you know it’s good for me as I’ll play my first final this year and yeah am looking forward to tomorrow”, Sinner stated.

Emphasizing upon the in court tactics, Jannik Sinner made a valid claim as to how to work on the strategy of the game. Certainly, improvisations and adaptations are the most important aspects of being the winner. Sinner successfully executed them and eventually managed to oust his opponent without much effort.

“Obviously you go in the court with one plan trying to do the things that you would like to do. Then it’s possible to change something. He was serving well; I still had to manage how to return his serve. Trying to move him a little bit as he has a very great backhand which was coming very flat so you always had to go down with the knees. It was a bit physical match for sure, you go on court with a plan, but you have to manage according to the situation.”

Undoubtedly, the Italian is one of the most talented individuals out there in the circuit. His young age adds to his advantage as he has a lot of time to improve himself. Irrespective of the result in the final, the experience would cater to his growth. He’s willing to go out and own the final although he acknowledges the added factors which come in when one is playing the final.

“Obviously you work for winning matches and I think I’ve been working a lot and I’d still work a lot and it’s a nice feeling playing the final. It’s a great feeling and you obviously want to play your best tennis in the final. But it’s not easy as you have a little bit more pressure and everything. I’d try to go in the court in the best possible way and let’s see how it goes.”
