'Roger Federer has always been my model', says young star

281 days. Many have passed since the last time Roger Federer took the field for an official match. It was January 30, 2020 and Covid-19 in the West was still not scary. The only shock that the circuit had to face was the news of King Roger's knee operation, forced to a long stop. The pandemic has contributed to lengthening his period of absence from the circuit: the Swiss has not accelerated his recovery time to be able to return to the field as soon as possible, he has made an appointment directly for next season. But 2021 is approaching and after the rehabilitation period it is time to take the racket back in hand. And not just to dribble against the wall (as he did a few months ago during the lockdown period), but on a real tennis court, to regain confidence with all the fundamental shots of the game. And so he is doing. Roger has posted a photo of him on social media that immortalizes him hitting a service on a field in Switzerland, surrounded by the colors of autumn that begin to invade the landscape. The photo is bouncing on all social media, because we haven't seen the Swiss on the pitch for a really long time and because, let's face it, we lacked that movement in the Federer service. "Back to work", "back to work" he writes in the caption below the post. Italian star Lorenzo Sonego revealed that he idolizes Swiss great Roger Federer but would love to take Novak Djokovic shot.

Speaking recently, Lorenzo Sonego said, “My models? It has always been Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. If I could steal something from an opponent, however, I would choose Djokovic’s return. He further added, “Had I played against anyone else, I would have done it with the same determination. I was not distracted by the names of my opponents, nor by what was happening off the pitch.” The Italian however fell short and lost in the final to Russian sensation Andrey Rublev. He ended up losing 4-6 4-6 in  Lorenzo surely has a lot of positives to take back from this tournament. He achieved a career-high ranking of 32 in the world. Reflecting on his performance during the week Lorenzo added, “I was not distracted by the names of my opponents, nor by what was happening off the pitch. Of course, I never expected to reach the final as a lucky loser.”
