Dayana Yastremska's father on the split with Sascha Bajin

20-years-old Dayana Yastremska was born in Odessa on 15 May 2000. Her best result in a Grand Slam event came at Wimbledon 2019, when she pushed her way to the round of 16 after beating Camila Giorgi, Sofia Kenin and Viktorija Golubic .

In her career she has won three WTA titles: Hong Kong, Hua Hin and Strasbourg. This year, rather disappointing in terms of results, she played only one final: that of Adelaide, lost in two sets against home crowd player Ashleigh Barty.

Thus, last September, the Ukrainian decided to break off her professional relationship with her coach Sascha Bajin, former coach of Naomi Osaka and Kristina Mladenovic. It happened at almost the end of a WTA season belo the xpectations for the Ukrainian.

The split with Sascha Bajin

Alexander, Dayana's father, recounted the break in relations with Bajin in an interview also published by EssentiallySports. He said: "Sascha is an excellent coach, he is very helpful but we realized he wasn't for us. I don't think this collaboration was a mistake for Dayana, for her it was still another experience, but I didn't see any advantage. Everyone looks at how well you play and the results you get.

It is not easy to work with Dayana, she has a strong personality. Relationships on and off the pitch are very important to her. At some point she realized that nothing good for her would come from this relationship. Dayana is overbearing, she demands adequate attention. For example, speaking of Bajin's congratulations in Osaka: it was a funny story, but with a sad ending ."

In fact, Yastremska lost in the round of 16 in Cincinnati to Naomi Osaka, in a match that ended in two sets. Bajin, at the end of that game, she gave to the Japanese her compliments on Twitter. Dayana's last participation on the WTA Tour took place earlier this month in Linz's Upper Austria Ladies, where she was defeated in the first game by Belgian Greet Minnen.

In July 2018 she entered the top 100 of the WTA ranking for the first time, becoming the first tennis player born in the new millennium to achieve this goal. Instead, in October 2019 she pushed her way up to number 22 in the women's world ranking, her best finish to date.
