'Roger Federer, Nadal, Djokovic have carried tennis for over a decade', says ATP ace

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were the great rulers of the modern era, having won 57 Grand Slams in total. The Swiss and the Spaniard are paired at 20 Grand Slam titles right now, after the 34-year-old from Manacor won Roland Garros for the 13th time in his extraordinary career (the fourth without relinquishing a single set along the way). For Federer, however, it was a very difficult season, considering that the Swiss played only one official tournament - the Australian Open - before undergoing two operations on his right knee. The former world number 1 is not yet certain of returning to the field at the Australian Open 2021, which will take place from 8 to 21 February due to quarantine requirements. Djokovic is still at 17 Majors after the final lost at Roland Garros, but the Serbian has an excellent chance of breaking the all-time record of weeks at the top of the ATP ranking (also thanks to the new ranking system induced by the pandemic). Most recently, three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka praised the incredible abilities of the three sacred monsters.

Wawrinka praises the Big 3

Recently, Stan Wawrinka elaborated on his rapport with Rafael Nadal. The two of them have had great matches over the years, including one at a grand slam final. Stan said, “I often train with him. His 13 victories at Roland Garros constitute one of the greatest achievements in the history of the sport.” Besides Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have also carried the sport for well over a decade. Wawrinka and Federer both hail from Switzerland. The two of them have a great relationship and have enjoyed success together, winning at the Davis Cup and the Olympic Games. Stan also has a healthy relationship with the Serb and has had intense matches at the majors. Reflecting on his overall association with the big 3, Wawrinka stated, “With Rafa, Roger and Novak, the big three, our era is fortunate to have three extraordinary champions at the same time.” Coming back to matters on the tennis court, we look forward to seeing Federer return to action in Melbourne. The 6-time Australian Open champion will be a part of the 2021 edition. After delivering his acceptance speech and thanking the jury and his fans for the honor, Federer had said that his recovery from a second knee surgery was behind schedule and he was unsure if he would be ready in time for the Australian Open. The start date for the year’s first Major has since been pushed back to February 8, giving Federer a three-week window to regain full fitness and return to action.
