Artem Sitak reacts to Paula Badosa testing positive in Australian Open quarantine

Kiwi doubles specialist Artem Sitak has urged players to try to stay calm and complete their quarantine period so they can have a hopefully safe Australian Open. 

A total of 72 players were placed in a strict quarantine ahead of the Australian Open and a number of players voiced their displeasure about it. 

I number of players complained about the conditions in the Australian Open quarantine and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic made a list of suggestions to looser quarantine restrictions. 

Unfortunately for the players. Victoria's Premier Daniel Andrewa bluntly rejected Djokovic's suggestions.

"I think everybody understands now that our goal as a playing community is to come out of these 14 days virus-free, so we can keep Melbourne, Victoria at 0 cases virus-free," Sitak said in a video posted on his Twitter account, per Reem Abulleil.

Sitak reacted to the Paula Badosa news 

On Thursday, Spanish tennis player Badosa revealed a positive test for COVID-19 on her seventh day of quarantine. 

Badosa revealed she was feeling some symptoms and the positive test means she won't be able to participate at the Australian Open.

"I have some bad news," Badosa said on Twitter. "Today I received a positive Covid-19 test result. I'm feeling unwell and have some symptoms, but I'll try to recover as soon as possible listening to the doctors.

"I've been taken to a health hotel to self isolate and be monitored. Thanks for your support. We'll be back stronger."

Former doubles world No. 32 Sitak reflected on the Badosa news, indicating that the players were not put in a strict quarantine for no reason.

"It shows that these hard & harsh quarantine conditions that some of us are undergoing are very important & very effective," Sitak acknowledged.
