Borna Coric speaks on Olympics, goals and motivation
Croatian tennis star Borna Coric claims he deeply loves tennis and he never has problems with motivation.
Coric, ranked at No. 24 in the world, has played three tournaments so far in 2022.
Coric kicked off his season at the Murray River Open in Melbourne, where he made the quarterfinal before losing to eventual champion Daniel Evans.
The Croatian then lost in the Australian Open second round, before making the semifinal in Rotterdam.
"My first and biggest motivation is always the game. I love it and enjoy competing. So for me, the only thing which is tough is travel with all the COVID testings and all the things we need to do to arrive at a certain place, which is not easy. But playing tennis is something I love, so I do not have a problem with motivation," Coric told Sportskeeda.
Coric enjoyed the OlympicsCoric made his Olympic debut five years ago at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Unfortunately for the Croatian, he didn't impress as he was beaten in the first round by French Gilles Simon.
"The Olympic Games was a really nice experience for me five years ago. I enjoyed it and decided to definitely go back, so this year I will play in Tokyo. I am not sure about doubles or mixed doubles though; I have not spoken to anyone yet on the same," Coric said.
Coric has made four appearances in Umag throughout his career and twice he has made the quarterfinal.
When it comes to the Grand Slams, Coric would like to win Wimbledon or Roland Garros.
"One tournament I would really like to win is the Croatian Open in Umag, as that is my home country tournament. From the bigger tournaments, I would choose Wimbledon or Roland Garros. If I need to choose between being ranked No. 1 or winning a Grand Slam, I would choose to win a Grand Slam," Coric revealed.
It remains to be seen if Coric will ever manage to win Umag or a Grand Slam title.
