Lorenzo Musetti: "I Dream of becoming world no.1! Sinner..."
Lorenzo Musetti is certainly one of the most interesting young players of the ATP Tour. The Italian talent has conquered the top 100 for the first time in his career this year by playing an incredible tournament in Acapulco.
Musetti, on the Mexican hard-courts, managed to earn the semifinals after beating tennis players of the caliber of Diego Schwartzman, Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov. The Italial player is showing all his talent week after week and in the special I am Musetti, made by Sky Sport, he talked about his dreams and his ambitions.
The great dream of Lorenzo Musetti"The biggest dream I have is to one day become number one in the world. Without tennis I could not live. It is my job but above all my greatest passion. For me, tennis is life. My earliest memory with a racket in hand is in my maternal grandmother's basement, with my father throwing the ball at me. I think I have almost worn the wall by dint of playing with it and hitting it with the balls.
Tennis has become my job, my profession, but I would like to relive that feeling of fun and carefree that I had at six. I believe humility and sacrifice are always fundamental. The sacrifices my parents made for me pushed me to give my best. From an economic point of view it was not easy, because we were a very normal family and without sponsors and contributions from the Federation my parents would not have been able to support an activity of this type."
Musetti then focused on his sporting rivalry with Jannik Sinner. "I would steal from Jannik the fact that he can stay much closer to the line and lose less field than me. Then surely the shots at the start of the game: he certainly serves and responds better. Maybe he could envy me the variations of the game, maybe I have slightly more sensitivity and touch."
We have to remember that Lorenzo Musetti will play at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia next week and will try to repeat the great performances of last season at the Foro Italico.
