'Novak Djokovic has a major flaw', says ATP legend

Winner this year at the Australian Open, world number one Novak Djokovic recently reached the final at the Internazionali BNL in Rome, where he was beaten in the third set by Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Nole, who has decided to register this week for the second round of the ATP 250 in Belgrade, will attempt to lift her second trophy at Roland Garros in Paris, where she played five finals and won one (in 2016 against the British Andy Murray). As also reported by the EssentiallySports website, the Serbian champion recently talked about his influence on young players: "Inspiring the new generations of tennis players is something that gives me a lot of satisfaction and I think it is also a duty, for me it is a responsibility to try to be a good example for them. I try to make myself available. Whether it's a call or the time we spend on or off the pitch. I know how things are when you are young. I always referred to the other players ... I looked at both the male and the female part of my country and that region... anyone with whom I had the opportunity to play or to chat with, today I know that those tips have served me a lot. They have had an incredible impact on my career and that's why I try to put myself in their shoes and try to make myself available”. To date there are five Serbian players in the top 100 of the world ranking: in addition to Djokovic, also Dusan Lajovic (39th), Filip Krajinovic (41st), Miomir Kekmanovic (48th) and Laslo Djere (53rd). With a total of 322 weeks spent at the top of the ATP rankings, Novak is the first player in this special ranking: the Swiss Roger Federer is now behind, still in second place at 310. Djokovic is only two distances from the Slam record of Federer and Nadal, today at 20. Roland Garros 2021 will officially start on May 30th with the main draw and will end in the middle of June.

Ivanisevic talks about Novak Djokovic

During a recent interview, Goran Ivanisevic spoke at length about Novak Djokovic, explaining the qualities the Serb possessed that helped him stand out from his peers. Ivanisevic also revealed what he believed to be Djokovic's only major flaw - tardiness. "It would take us three hours to talk about it (what separates him from everyone else)," Ivanisevic said. "Everything separates him, although I always believe that first our Balkan mentality is special, different, more resourceful, the best. I'm not just talking about Novak as a tennis player, but in general in all branches of sports and outside of sports. That is why the West is afraid of us, we are good. Novak is special, a genius, a perfectionist," Ivanisevic added. "I’m not saying it’s always easy with him, but it’s one big challenge,(with) trust (and) honor. He is a man who wants to be better and better every day, today was good, tomorrow is not and must be better, you are pushing forward, a lot can be learned from him. It's never boring." Ivanisevic also revealed that Novak Djokovic has a major flaw; the 34-year-old is never punctual. "There may be one thing (flaw), but no one can (rectify it)," said the Croat. "He quarrels with the clock. In my life, I don't think he (ever) came on time. He knows it, but he still doesn't (come on time). We all know that he will be late, everyone is used to it."
