Puerto Rico, golfer killed a dog on the course
In Puerto Rico, a golfer shot and killed a dog on the field.
Unfortunately, yet another demonstration of inhumanity took place last Saturday at hole 17 of the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Golf & Beach where a man was arrested for killing a dog. Why did he do it? According to witnesses and the police report, the man shot because the animal had moved the ball to play with it. According to the person concerned, however, the dog was about to lash out at him who, frightened, would have reacted in the worst possible way. There would be no witnesses to support this second reconstruction.
Puerto Rico, the storyThe story fills the pages of local newspapers arousing general indignation and anger. The protagonist is an entrepreneur born in Mumbai in 1960 and moved to New York nine years later. He has been living in Puerto Rico for several years to enjoy a series of tax breaks.
On Saturday 8 May he was lapping on the Rio Grande hotel course with three friends when, on hole 17, he definitely lost his mind. Those who were there said they saw the dog suddenly appear along the course, grab a ball on the fairway and start playing with it. In a rush, the "golfer" would then have pulled out his gun and fired two shots. Then he would have approached the ball, he would have played it and then finished the dying animal. The dog was an old acquaintance of the club staff, one of those who kept the iguanas away.
Some golfers frightened by the sound of shots fired the alarm and called the police. The gun is perhaps the only dark point of the story. In fact, it remains to be understood why a “golfer” turns armed in a resort. Holder of a legal license to carry firearms, the man used a nine-millimeter Glock 26, which was immediately seized by the police.
The version of the arrested person is completely opposite to what is recorded. David Begnaud, correspondent for CBS News, spread a whatsapp message attributed to the arrested person on Twitter. The 61-year-old does not deny the evidence but he claims he did it in self-defense. “That dog didn't move my ball but that of a teammate of mine. Then he started running towards me, pointing my golf car straight ahead. I was scared, I would not have had time to escape and I shot when he was very close ”.
Pending the first hearing scheduled for May 19, the man was released from prison on payment of a $ 60,000 bail. He will have to wear the electronic bracelet. Collect passport and driving license. The crime of cruelty against animals has been contested.
