'Novak Djokovic took probably 5,000 photos', says Croatian star

Novak Djokovic wrote a new page of Roland Garros history a month ago when he became the first player in the Open Era to have lifted all four Grand Slams at least twice. The Serbian phenomenon then won his sixth Wimbledon title, reaching 20 Majors and equaling the record shared by eternal rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The number 1 in the world has serious chances of achieving the 'Calendar Golden Slam' this year, which is why he has decided to go to Tokyo to play the Olympic Games. The 34-year-old from Belgrade had no problems regulating Bolivian Hugo Dellien on his debut in the scorching heat of the wonderful Japanese ensemble. Nole, who aims to win his first ever gold medal, is one of the most popular figures in the Olympic Village, so much so that a myriad of athletes lined up to take a picture with him. Among them is Frane Kojic, who represents Croatia in table tennis. Interviewed by 'Sporstke Novosti', Kojic revealed that he bumped into Djokovic almost by accident.

"I managed to take a pic with Novak Djokovic. There is an unseen amount of people around him, he took probably 5,000 photos," Kojic said. "I approached him and said, 'Novak can I have a pic with you, that's the only reason why I qualified for the Olympics'. He laughed and said, 'Of course!'" Frane Kojic added. Derwael recently shared a photo on Instagram of herself doing the splits with Djokovic. "When @djokernole asks for a picture, you can’t refuse," she jokingly captioned the post. Meanwhile, Iranian basketballer Amir Arsalan revealed he missed a golden opportunity to take a selfie with Djokovic. "I can’t believe I missed @DjokerNole last night he was chilling down by their complex (less than 10 meters away) same place tonight maybe? I need that photo please," he wrote on Twitter. Tokyo Olympics 2020 is much more than a Gold medal for Djokovic. He is eyeing the Golden Calendar Slam this year which he can only achieve if he succeeds at the Tokyo Olympics as well as at the US Open 2021. Djoker has already won 3 Grand Slam titles this year after his recent success at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. If he wins the Olympic Gold and the US Open 2021 title, the Serb will become the first male player to accomplish the Golden Calendar Slam in the history of the sport. With this, he’ll also become only the second player to win all the four Grand Slams in a single year after Rod Laver in the Open era. The Australian legend did the same way back in 1969.
