It is Belinda Bencic from Switzerland to win the Olympic gold medal and achieve a historic victory at Tokyo 2021 women's singles final. For Bencic a victory in a very difficult and hard match against Marketa Vondrousova after three sets of pure battle.

The match begins with both players very tense and with the serve that is anything but a factor. Bencic tries to make the game but she makes a few mistakes too many, four breaks in the first six games but gradually the situation stabilizes.

It goes on with some break points on both sides and the twelfth game is the decisive one with Bencic getting the break and closing the partial 7-5. The second set begins with a very long game, lasting over 10 minutes, which immediately sees the Czech's break.

The partial becomes one-way and is never in question with Vondrousova who makes the double break and she closes the set by drawing the scores for 6-2. In the decisive set the Czech still plays a strong part and immediately breaks and the race seems to go all in her direction, but the Swiss immediately gets the counterbreak.

The match follows the wake of the first set with several breaks and the challenge that travels on the razor's edge, Bencic goes 3-1, but Vondrousova draws again and goes on 3-3. At 4-3 the Swiss called a medical timeout for a problem in her foot but at the restart she suffered three break points for 5 to 3 and at zero Bencic ensures the possibility of serving for the match. Here Bencic cancels three break points, before taking advantage of the most important match point of her career.
