'What Roger Federer's doing and achieveing...', says ATP ace
20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer celebrated his 40th birthday yesterday. Many renowned entities of the sports fraternity wished him happiness and success on his special day. Interestingly, former world number 5 Eugenie Bouchard forgot to wish Roger Federer on her birthday while she was doing a show on Tennis Channel. She but she managed to get to the Swiss ace wishing him from her new office, albeit a day late. She also recalled one of her first encounters with the Swiss master after he won the 2012 Wimbledon Championship title. “Happy 40th birthday Roger! Forgot to post before the show😅 "Back to Wimbledon 2012!" tweeted a cheerful Bouchard. Bouchard is a big fan of Federer; She takes a lot of inspiration from the former world number one player and doesn't miss the chance to meet him even now. After being eliminated in the 2021 Wimbledon Championship quarters, Federer has yet to return to the court. He hasn't even started his hard court training sessions and in such a situation, fans are wondering if he will play in the 2021 US Open. Federer recently announced that he will skip the 2021 National Bank Open. Interestingly, he won't play in the Cincinnati Masters this year either, which means he won't have much experience before the next Grand Slam. The Swiss teacher mentioned that he has not yet fully recovered from his knee injury and therefore will not play in the two Masters 1000 tournaments. It will be intriguing to see how long Roger Federer plays at age 40.
Rublev pays tribute to Roger FedererAndrey Rublev has admitted that he could not quite believe Roger Federer managed to make the quarterfinals of Wimbledon last month despite playing barely any tennis for more than a year. "I'm sure I'm not going to be the first one to say this (Roger Federer's Wimbledon QF run) was something unreal, something unbelievable," Rublev said. "That he's the only one who could make it." But Rublev insisted he was not surprised that the Swiss managed to reach the last eight considering his status as one of the finest players of all time. "By the way, I'm not really surprised because this is Roger, he breaks so many records," Rublev went on. "He is one of the best tennis players in history. And that's what he's doing and achieveing it's just unreal." At the Wimbledon Championships, he lost in the quarterfinal, which was a letdown for him. Fans will hope to see him compete during the matches at the US Open.
