'Del Potro can overcome Nadal, Federer and fight for No. 1' - Coria

Guillermo Coria believes Juan Martin del Potro has huge chances to become world No. 1 for the first time in his career in 2019. The 30-year-old is trying to recover from a knee injury and he is set to compete his next official tournament at the Australian Open. 'Next year he will have many chances to fight for the number one with Rafael Nadal or (Roger) Federer', said Coria. 'Luckily another great tennis player like Novak Djokovic was there again, but Juan Martin has everything to be number one, I have no doubts.'

Commenting on the players' longevity, Coria added: 'Today the tennis player's career got much longer. You have players who keep a very high level at 36 or 37 years, like Federer or Nadal. The top 100 players overcome the 25 years. You also have a good project and from early you can see the player's ability at 8, 9, 10 years.'

Commenting on his great achievements when he was playing professional tennis, Coria concluded: 'Over the time you give value to it, much more when you retire, when you attend clinics and you see kids dreaming to win his first ATP point and his first title. It's 15 years from my Hamburg title, the most important one. I was 21 years old and you regret not having enjoyed it and being so strict with myself without enjoying the moment.'

Del Potro is set to start his new season at the Kooyong Classic.
