Jason Kubler suffers early-season setback as he withdraws from Brisbane
Rising Australian Jason Kubler won't be opening his 2019 campaign in the opening week of the season as he has withdrawn from the Brisbane International, per The Australian.
The 25-year-old was forced to pull out of the Brisbane event due to knee soreness.
Kubler, ranked at No. 115 in the world, was expected to make his Brisbane main draw debut next week after being granted a wildcard by the tournament organizers.

The Australian tried to make the Brisbane main draw in 2010 through the qualifying event -- but failed to do so as he lost to fellow compatriot Matt Reod in the qualifying first round.
Kubler has had lots of problems with his knees so far in his career.
The 25-year-old played just four non-clay tournaments between 2010 September and 2017 October.
The Australian has undergone a total of six knee surgeries so far in his career.
Luckily, Kubler skipping hard and grass tournaments in order to preserve his knees is now a thing of the past as the Australian is now regularly playing on all surfaces.
However, being forced to skip Brisbane due to yet another knee issue will certainly hurt Kubler.
It remains to be seen will Kubler recover in time for the Australian Open.
The 26-year-old won't have to play the Australian Open qualifying since he was awarded a wildcard into the opening Grand Slam of the season.
