Madridistas Rafa Nadal, Djokovic, Zverev Set 2019 Madrid Open Promotion

The Mutua Madrid Open presented the prorgrame for its 2019 edition that will be held from 3 to 12 May and almost all the best players are committed to play. Roger Federer is yet to take a decision on whether he will play the clay season in 2019, so the main faces of the tournament;s promotion were Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev on the men's side, while Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, and the local hero Garbiñe Muguruza headline the women's field. Gerard Tsobanian, Mutua Madrid Open CEO and President, said: 'The city of Madrid is converted into the epicentre of tennis every May. On clay, at Caja Magica one has seen incredible battles among tennis players. That's why we wanted to present these players as Madrid natives. Throughout the years, we have made them feel that the city and tournament are theirs. We thought that making them as Madrid natives would be great.'

Javier García Río, marketing head for the Mutua Madrid Open, explained the tactic that marked the development of the tournament image for 2019: 'Madrid has been the tennis capital for 17 years. For this, we keep Madrid as central eye of the campaign.'

André Viana, Creative Director of the agency that took care of the campaign draw, explained their concept: 'Madrid is an open city and embraces you from the first moment as one of its own, wherever you come from. There is a phrase, 'If you come to Madrid, you are from Madrid'. So, in that manner, Rafa, Garbiñe, Novak and Simona become Madridistas during the tournament days.'
