Maria Sharapova and Andy Murray won't win Majors anymore, says expert

The Italian TV commentator Jacopo Lo Monaco believes that it will be very tough for Maria Sharapova and Andy Murray to win a Grand Slam title again. Both have been dealing with injuries and they respectively last won a Grand Slam in 2014 and 2016. 'I deny that Maria Sharapova may come back, I do not think she will another Major', Lo Monaco told Tennis World Italia.

On Murray, Lo Monaco added: 'He will definitely try to be competitive again, but I believe that it's almost impossible that he can win another Major. We have plenty of examples in the past about players who dealt with hip issues and never came back at the top: Gustavo Kuerten, Magnus Norman and Lleyton Hewitt come to my mind. Murray also has a very requiring tennis physically.'

Lo Monaco, who has been commentating the Australian Open, French Open and US Open finals for several years, also spoke about the women's tennis in general: 'Simona may win other French Opens in the next year. On hard there are instead a lot of better opponents over the course of two weeks. Stephens, or finally Muguruza who I hope she manages to achieve her entire potential.'

Halep is back to practice on a tennis court in Romania a few days ago, as revealed by her former coach Darren Cahill. We will see if the world No. 1, who has been dealing with a back injury for months, will manage to recover in time for the Australian Open.'
