People who compare Grigor Dimitrov to Roger Federer are crazy - Expert
David Ferrer presented his book "Playing like David Ferrer" in co-operation with Sergio Guillem. In an interview to Punto de Break, Guillem explained and clarified this complicated concept. 'One thing is to play and another is to compete', said Guillem. 'Here we are trying that David is the model to follow on a technique level, obviously it's impossible to 100% copy any player. Out there you have a lot of people who say that Dimitrov plays like Federer and just Dimitrov calls them crazy (laughter). Two people can be similar in the development of some shots but in the competition it's another thing. In the David's case, according to your talent to copy or hit his shots, you can come to be more or less similar, but it has nothing to do with the competition, as there are other things that go beyond the technique.'
Guillem added: 'I think no one set the limit of age to improve motion movements, but it's clear that for an old person it's absolutely impossible to find this learning. You can have an improvement, but tennis is technical enough. I cannot say you if they are 10, 12 or 14 years, I would take a risk saying that after 12 you came later. Improving is always possible, whatever old you are, but starting from zero is impossible. For example, if you are 20 years old, you have never played tennis and you want to play like David Ferrer, we feel it but it's late.'
He also mentioned some extravagant players: 'Kyrgios does some strange things, he surprises me, it's something that you should not teach, but he is so good and he has the talent. Paire would be another similar case, with the forehand he sometimes does strange things.'
