Robin Haase, Kiki Bertens honored in Netherlands

Robin Haase, Kiki Bertens and Demi Schuurs have all been honoured in the Netherlands, the Royal Dutch Lawn Tennis Association announced.

Haase, 31, has been named the 2018 Dutch male player of the year.

The 31-year-old didn't win a singles title this past season but won three titles in doubles.

Haase also finishes the year as the top-ranked Dutch male singles player as he is ranked at No. 50 in the world.

Haase's best singles results of the year include semi-final showing in Auckland and Umag, as well as a quarter-final showing at the Toronto Masters.

The 31-year-old's best win of the year came at the Cincinnati Masters-- where he beat this year's Nitto ATP Finals champion Alexander Zverev in the second round.

Doubles world No. 38 Haase won doubles titles in Pune, Sofia and Umag alongside fellow compatriot Matwe Middelkoop.

World No. 9 Kiki Bertens won the 2018 Dutch female player of the year award after a strong 2018 campaign.

Bertens, 27, won it all this year in Charleston, Cincinnati and Seoul, while she finished runner-up in Madrid.

Playing in her first WTA Finals, the 27-year-old reached the semi-final before losing to Elena Svitolina.

Bertens also won the Brisbane doubles title alongside fellow compatriot Demi Schuurs in the opening week of the season.

Meanwhile, Schuurs has been named the 2018 Dutch doubles player of the year.

Schuurs, ranked at No. 7 in the world in doubles, played in nine doubles finals this past season.

Schuurs, who collected seven doubles titles in 2018, won titles with three different partners this past season -- Bertens, Elise Mertens and Ashleigh Barty.

Schuurs also featured the WTA Finals event in Singapore -- where she and partner Mertens lost in the quarter-final.
