Sascha Zverev's agent says German could've fought for no. 1 ranking in 2018

Patricio Apey has been Alexander Zverev's agent since 2012. Apey was one of the first people who believed in Zverev's potential. Speaking to La Tercera, Apey said: 'He was the first player in my life in whom I invested money and the first one I signed on without seeing him play. I looked at him and he was almost two meters tall at 15 years. And I joked: "If tennis does not work, we will go to the modeling world."'

Apey feels confident about the Next Generation players' chances in the future: 'Evidently, the level of the older players will drop a little and the younger players are there. And Sascha is in the first line. One thought two or three years ago that Roger Federer was at the last stage (of his career) and he has won two or three Grand Slams more. Nadal, with his injuries as well, is winning. And Djokovic, despite his injury, is the world no. 1.'

At 21 years age of age, Zverev is more successful than Federer. But Apey, put these comparisons aside. 'It's too much say that he will be better than him or others. He has done similar things as Djokovic, Murray and Roger, or better than Roger, but the others have done it too. He is closer to becoming the world no. 1. This summer, if he had played better in Toronto, Cincinnati and the US Open, he could have fought for the no. 1 ranking, but Djokovic was strong.'
