Andy Murray undergoes new hip surgery

Through his official Instagram account Andy Murray revealed he underwent a new hip surgery on Monday in order to have a better quality life in the future. Murray announced the news with some irony like he usually does when he visits social media. "I underwent a hip resurfacing surgery in London yesterday morning... feeling a bit battered and bruised just now but hopefully that will be the end of my hip pain in I now have a metal hip as you can see in the second photo. And I look like I've got a bit of a gut in photo 1", wrote the three-time Grand Slam winner. This year Murray competed at the Australian Open losing to Roberto Bautista Agut in a five-set first round match. He had said that he hoped to end his career at Wimbledon, which seems unlikely at the moment, at least this year.

Through a statement the Queen's Tournament Director Stephen Farrow commented on Murray's new hip surgery. The three-time Grand Slam winner has a lifetime deal with the Queen's that takes place in June on grass, and Farrow said they would love to see him playing.

"Andy is our greatest champion, lifting our iconic trophy a record five times and providing countless special memories for our spectators over the last 14 years, including the Queen’s-Wimbledon double in 2013 and 2016", said Farrow. "His first professional match-win came at The Queen’s Club in 2005, he won his first title on British soil on our centre court in 2009, and we will always have a special bond with him. We hope that Andy is fit enough to join what will be a world-class line-up of players in June. Whatever happens, we are right behind him as he rehabilitates from surgery, and wish him nothing but the best."
