Australian Open day 3 recap: victories, surgeries and outfits

The third day of the Australian Open gave us many options and a surprise. Confirmations arrived from the top players involved on the courts. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Marin Cilic, Grigor Dimitrov, Angelique Kerber, Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki and Sloane Stephens reached the third round. Out Kevin Anderson, against NextGen Frances Tiafoe.

Serena Williams has never been banal in the choice of her outfits. The US has received criticism and praise in the past on this issue. She herself talked about her outfits in the last interview, and her new dress, the Serena-tard: "We plan the outfits very early on with Nike. I knew I had worked hard to get back in shape during the off-season, so I felt ready to wear a dress like this. Nike always wants to make incredibly strong statements for moms all over the world struggling to get back in shape after giving birth. It was essential for me to launch once again a message for them".

The injury of Richard Gasquet is more serious than expected. In fact, the Frenchman will need surgery for an inguinal hernia. His return should be scheduled for the clay season, so in about two months.

Elina Svitolina talked about what she did when she was a ball boy for Andy Murray in a Davis Cup match between Ukraine and Great Britain, in 2006: "It went well except once, where I felt embarrassed. I gave Andy the towel and I I turned to get a ball because I was at the back of the court and there was a change of balls. So he threw the towel at me and I did not get it, but for the rest, I think I was very professional!"

We would like to close with the outfits of this Australian Open. There are those who adore them, there are those who do not like them. Overall I can say that they are appropriate for tennis players who wear them. We must never forget it: tennis, fashion and outfits go in the same direction!
