Boris Becker: 'Former wife Lilly was woman I loved the most in life'
In an interview to Bunte the six-time Grand Slam winner Boris Becker commented on the reasons that led him to split with his second wife Lilly a few months ago. Becker had some very deep words for Lilly: 'I may have never loved any other person with so much passion and intensity. I did not know that I could have done it. I do not want to remove anything about my wedding with Barbara, we were a few years younger and it was beautiful as well. Lilly was a full-blood woman, very nice, emotional and paasionate, with all her strengths and weaknesses. I did not have anything to earn when I fell in love with her. She was coming from different backgrounds, but I did not care. When I saw her in a pizzeria on a Sunday afternoon in Miami, I was hit by her. After some up and down we fell in love each other in 2009.'
Becker added: 'Her and my vision of the life, our priorities didn't coincide at some points. We come from completely different worlds. In the beginning it was exciting, but at some point we did not understand each other, which makes impossible staying together. We didn't have the same interests, same values, the same feelings. You start arguing and getting angry and you have to discuss about every topic 14 times. This is the main reason why we split. The money was secondary. If you have different opinions, the love, the passion and the respect will end up getting lost. Emotionally we were divided for a while. The wedding could have ended in 2017.'
