Expert reveals the bad side in Roger Federer, Djokovic, Nadal dominance
BBC Pundit Russell Fuller believes there is something bad in the Big 3 dominance - Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer -. After year's Australian Open, these three players have won 52 Grand Slam titles combined.
Fuller thinks that Nadal and Djokovic's respective dominant wins over Stefanos Tsitsipas and Lucas Pouille show that the two legends play a competition apart. "Over the past two nights, we have seen two utterly dominant and ruthless performances by two players who have proved to be a hefty cut above the rest", said Fuller. "Djokovic was only credited with five unforced errors. It was another immaculate performance by the world number one - he matched Nadal stroke for stroke. We are incredibly privileged to be around to witness Djokovic, Nadal and Roger Federer collide on such a regular basis, but it can lead to some very one-sided matches. They have dominated the latter stages of Grand Slams to such an extent that opponents who do fleetingly break into the final four often have little experience to draw on."
Djokovic instead feels there a lot of good players including Lucas Pouille who he defeated in the semifinals. 'I always thought he's a great quality player', said Djokovic. 'What he has done this tournament is fantastic. He has won against some top players. Of course Milos, Coric in the quarter-final. He struggled a little bit with the consistency of his results in the last two years. But with the quality of the tennis that he possesses, he deserves to be definitely at the top 15, maybe top 10 of the world.'
