I have never seen Rafael Nadal serve so good, says Mats Wilander
Mats Wilander praised Rafael Nadal's straight-set win over Frances Tiafoe in the Australian Open quarter-final on Tuesday,22nd January . The Swede believes that Nadal is delivering a new kind of game.'He was unbelievably aggressive, he served so good,' said Wilander on Eurosport. 'I have never seen him serve so good, even when he won the US Open he served great but now he hits more forehand winners, he is so confident and I think confidence comes from commitment. He is committed to a big serve and then a big strike with the forehand. I think he was perfect today.'
Wilander believes that Nadal is doing a great job in terms of tactics: 'He exposed the weaknesses of everyone. With Tomas Berdych, for example, he exposed the movement, he does not move so well. He could not stand with Rafa. Tiafoe, his backhand, he could not keep with Rafa. Nadal is hitting the ball better than I have ever seen him. He is a better player. He is free, he is relaxed. The serve helps him relax, the serve is much easier, and then he can go for his return being loose. He is so talented. Carlos Moya has had a lot to do it with it, but I like to mention also Francis Roig. His racket goes faster and he wins 10% more points with his first serve. Rafa's serve is a completely different weapon now. It's working because I am getting free points,' concluded Wilander, who has been working for Eurosport since 2002.
