Kyle Edmund speaks very highly of his 'biggest role model' Andy Murray
Rising British tennis star Kyle Edmund thinks Andy Murray is the greatest British tennis player ever and possibly Britain's best sportsman ever.
Murray, 31, on Friday announced that he will be soon retiring from the game.
The former world No. 1 has a severely damaged hip as he plans to call it a career at Wimbledon.
However, the 31-year-old's retirement may come at Melbourne Park as he couldn't guarantee his hip would hold up until July.
Murray has won three Grand Slam titles, back-to-back Olympic Gold medals and one Davis Cup title before he fulfilled his long-awaited goal of becoming the world No. 1 at the end of the 2016 season.
Edmund, ranked at No. 14 in the world, is currently the top-ranked British tennis player and one of the most promising players on the Tour.
"For me he (Murray) has been my biggest role model out of any tennis player," Edmund said, per Metro UK.
"He's Britain’s greatest tennis player ever and you could say may be Britain's best sportsman ever. To be able to have had the experiences that I've had with him and memories in terms of training with him and getting to know him personally and seeing what he's done on the court and achieved, he’s definitely helped my career in some way, whatever that is."
Murray is set to meet Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut in the Australian Open first round.
