'Stefanos Tsitsipas will not become the next Roger Federer' - Mouratoglou

Speaking on Eurosport Stefanos Tsitsipas' coach Patrick Mouratoglou commented on the 20-year-old Greek reaching his maiden Grand Slam semifinal defeating Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets.

Mouratoglou said: 'I cannot say it was expected because it was not expected, it was at some point but not so fast. And that's the main thing about him, he does everything faster than he expects. He said today the goal of the year was to reach a Grand Slam semifinal, and he did it on the first attempt. It's always been like this since I know him, it has always been so fast. I like him, he should not lose to Bautista. Three months ago it would be the opposite, Bautista cannot lose to Tsitsipas. He completely changed his mindset. The pressure becomes huge when you beat Roger and guys say, Oh, that's gonna be the guy that becomes the next Roger Federer". That's what the press said, even though he will not be the next Roger, we all know that. And then suddenly he has that pressure that he has not to lose anymore. He handled it and that's a great thing.'

Mats Wilander praised Tsitsipas's variety and the game overall: 'Against Roger (Federer) he mixed it up nicely, in that second set he suddenly started rushing the net. Every single shot he hit on Roger's backhand he went to the net. Then he only did it at the right time. And today what is good is that he goes for crazy shots when the courts allow him to do. When the courts do not allow him, he understands he has to play a safe point, he is gonna be aggressive, he just feels the moment so well being there for the first time.'
